A brief history

Royds Mill has been at the heart of Sheffield’s metalworking heritage since 1788, when the Read and Lucas partnership brought their precious metal refining business to the site. Under the Wilson family, it evolved into the Sheffield Smelting Company, renowned for refining metals for industry worldwide. Incorporated in 1890, the company combined craftsmanship with commercial success. Today, this legacy continues as Royds Mill Business Park is home to leading manufacturers British Silverware, Solpro Brazing and Ossila.
